Easy to Install & Use Solar Monitoring System
The Powersensor solar monitoring system has three main parts, as depicted below:
1) The Sensors are wireless devices that you install near your mains service fuse and solar inverter. These rechargeable battery-powered sensors require no tools for installation. They use a patented technique to accurately measure electricity flow without making direct contact with any wires.
2) The Plug that plugs into a high power consumption appliance inside your home. It measures and logs power usage through this appliance, acting as a calibration for the sensors. It also relays the data from the sensors to the internet via your home wifi network.
3) The App allows access to your data, whether you're at home or away. The App includes both energy and cost tracking, and you can view your energy data in a wide variety of ways.

Why You Need This Solar Monitor
Most households with solar panels are left 'flying blind' due to inadequate data provided by their energy bills or solar inverter.
For example, all your electricity bill shows you is how much power you imported from the grid, and how much you exported. This leaves the critical component of 'solar self-consumption' (the energy you generate and use directly) completely invisible. The only way you can track this, and maximise your solar savings, is if you have a solar monitoring system.

Solar Monitor Support & FAQ
Does it work with 3 phase power?
No. Powersensor currently only works with single-phase households, which are the most common type.
If you have a three-phase power supply and solar, we recommend another electricity monitor.

Is this a remotely accessible energy monitor?
Yes. The Plug connects to the internet. You can check your energy usage from home, at the office, or anywhere in the world.
How often does the solar monitoring data update?
The readings you see in the App update every 30 seconds. As such, you can readily observe changes in power usage from individual appliances.
The Plug also acts as an individual appliance power meter. This provides a handy log of usage for a frequently used appliance such as a kettle, toaster, fridge, or washing machine.
Can I add more Plugs to track more appliances in detail?
Yes - you can add up to eight extra Powersensor Plugs to monitor more appliances from within the app.
What's included in the solar energy monitoring kit?
You will receive everything you need, including:
- 1 x Plug. This sits inside your home, ideally within one to two rooms of your electricity meter box. Add an extra plug if you need to extend this range.
- 2 x Sensors. These sit inside your meter box and near your inverter (one for usage, one for solar).
- 2 x USB cables to recharge the sensors every one to two years.
- High quality 3M Dual Lock reclosable velcro pads to secure the Sensors in place.
- Instructions and QR code to download the App.
Where can I download the solar monitor App? Is it free?
Yes - the App is free for all the features described here. In other words, your purchase of the device covers the cost of the App. Here are the download links for any Apple or Android smartphone:
Unlike other solar monitoring systems, Powersensor does not charge ongoing fees. However, they may release even more features in the future as an optional extra (premium subscription).
Can I export or download my consumption & solar energy data?
Yes. The App includes a reporting and data export function (to a .csv spreadsheet file). The App itself is extremely detailed and easy to navigate, so most users do not need to use this feature.
Powersensor Solar Monitor & App
The device sadly does not work. The usage desolated by the device on the app is wildly out. It still reports that I am generating 29kw and 140KWh today from the solar and used 138KWh from the grid. While the idea is fantastic I have not been able to get the data I hoped for. I have tried a full factory reset and even a new account. Will be asking for a full refund
Hi Lee, Sorry to read this. Please tell us a bit more about your setup so we can help troubleshoot. Repositioning or relocating the sensors then recalibrating may be all that's needed to get accurate readings.
I purchased the Powersensor to monitor my solar output while travelling. While the setup was very simple and it is all working well, I am finding that the amount of solar kWh being recorded by the Powersensor is very inaccurate and much higher then displayed on the solar inverter which aligns with prior electricity statements.
Hi Paul, once set up correctly, measurements should be within 5% of your solar inverter and electricity bill. Note that your electricity bill only reports 'Net Import' and 'Net Export', whereas the Powersensor reports these figures as well as the 'Gross' totals. If accuracy is way off, you will most likely need to move the sensor(s) into a better position. Please follow the instruction in the app to move the sensors and then wait 48 hours for the system to re-calibrate. Let us know how you go. You can also quickly test the system's accuracy by switching on a load of a known size (such as a kettle at 2.0 to 2.4kW) to see if the system is measuring correctly.
Very easy to install and operating very well
This is a really great simple product and easy to instal yourself at home.
I had solar installed and the built in application only showed what I was producing, so not very informative.
This product takes all the guess work out of managing your power consumption and getting the best out of your solar system.
The application is easy to use and understand.
Highly recommended to everyone.
The only downside was it took me a lot of internet searching to find the product and there are not many reviews to verify how good it is.
More than happy with power sensor solar monitor. Easy to install and very accurate. Couldn't think of one negative thing to say about it. Thank you for excellent well priced product.
The unit had good installation instructions and is working sort of ok, but it wasn't apparent when I purchased the unit that the appliance plug needed to be within Bluetooth distance of the sensors for the system to work. Since, like a lot of people I suspect, my inverter is in the garage there was not a lot of choice as to which appliance I could use. I had to use the garage door opening motor. This made it harder for the unit to calibrate properly. It would have been useful to know this limitation before purchasing.
Hi Alastair, thank you for the feedback: we will try to improve the description. The Plug to Sensor range can vary depending on your type of building. In most homes, it reaches about 10 metres or two rooms into the house. Both wireless range and system accuracy can be improved substantially by adding an extra plug somewhere else in your home.
Unit are easy to setup. Takes about 10 minutes to install. Reasonable accuracy within 97%-98% of what my solar inverter shows.
