Powersensor Energy + is an innovative Australian-designed home energy monitoring system. It helps you optimise your energy consumption by providing live data and detailed historical information.

Easy DIY Installation. No electrician or tools are required.

Realtime Energy Data. Get instant access to your energy consumption, no more waiting months for your electricity bill to arrive.

Energy & Cost Insights. Uncover what appliances use the most power and when you spend the most money on electricity usage.

Expandable. Add up to eight extra Plugs and Sensors to track and separate out key appliances.

Solar Power Ready. This kit also allows for basic 'NET metering' of solar power. If you have solar panels, it will show you how much electricity you are importing or exporting at any time. See also the more advanced Powersensor Solar Monitor.

Home Energy Monitoring Device

The App includes an easy to follow setup guide when you first install your home energy monitor. You'll be up and running in about 10 minutes.

Choose a Single Phase or 2 or 3 Phase Kit

At your electricity meter-board or switch-board, have a look at the 'Main Switch.' You can verify your installation type by referring to the image below.

Main Switch

Single Phase (single-pole) main switch on the left vs. a 3 Phase (three-pole) main switch on the right. 2 Phase power is less common and has a two-pole switch.

Home Energy Monitor - How it Works

The Powersensor energy monitoring system has four main parts.

Powersensor Energy + Components

The Sensor, Optical Reader (three-phase only), Plug, and App.

The Sensors are wireless devices that you install at your meter-board. See the image gallery at the top of this page for some examples. They measure the magnetic field of electrical flow without directly contacting any wires.

The Optical Reader detects any digital electricity meter's pulse output (flashing red light). It helps to calibrate the primary sensor at three-phase sites only.

The Plug measures the power usage of an appliance and helps calibrate the main sensor at single-phase sites. It also acts as a wireless 'gateway' relaying data from the sensors to the internet via your WiFi network.

The App provides instant access to your data, whether you're at home or away. The app includes both energy and cost tracking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a remotely accessible energy monitor?

Yes. The Plug connects to the internet. You can check your energy usage from home, at the office, or anywhere in the world.

Is it compatible with home battery systems?

Not at present - but it's on Powersensor's feature roadmap for inclusion soon.

Is it compatible with multiple solar power inverters?

Yes. This product is our suggested solution if you have two solar PV power inverters. Rather than tracking multiple inverters individually (which is not possible), it simply tracks the NET import and export of power from your main switchboard.

See the Powersensor Solar Monitor for a more advanced solution for households with solar power.

How often does the data update?

Readings update in the App every 30 seconds. As such, you can readily observe changes in power usage from individual appliances.

The Plug also acts as an individual appliance power meter - providing a handy usage log for a frequently used appliance.

Can I add more Plugs to track more appliances in detail?

Yes - you can add up to eight extra Powersensor Plugs to monitor more appliances from within the app.

What's in the home energy monitoring kit?

You will receive everything you need, including:

  • 1 x Plug - sits inside your home, ideally within one to two rooms of your electricity meter box. Add an extra plug if you need to extend this range.
  • 1 x Sensor - goes inside your electricity meter box.
  • A USB cable to recharge the Sensor every one to two years.
  • High quality 3M Dual Lock reclosable velcro pads to secure the Sensor in place.
  • Instructions and a QR code to download the App.

Is the software / App free?

Yes. Your purchase of the device on this page covers the cost of the App. Here are the download links for any Apple or Android smartphone:

Unlike other electricity monitoring devices, Powersensor does not charge ongoing fees. However, they may release even more features in the future as an optional extra (premium subscription).

Can I export or download my energy data?

Yes. The App includes a data export function (to a .csv spreadsheet file). Data is stored half-hourly and includes usage (in kWh), peak demand (in kW), and cost for each time period.

Powersensor a Usefull Tool

The Power Sensor system is very easy to install from the practical perspective as well as the app setup perspective. The App setup performed exactly as detailed in the instructions. The App detail screens give me a clear understanding, current and historic, of how our home electrical system is performing along with our net import and export to the grid. I recommend this product.

PowerSensor Energy Monitor and App

This kit is great if you want to get an idea of how much power you are using and it's cost.

The kit is expandable, by purchasing additional Monitor Plugs (up to 8 additional plugs), if you want to be able to see how much power each device is using and what they are costing you.
