The Mile's up to 48-metre viewing distance is achieved through a larger pictograph that remains clearly visible even in open areas. According to AS/NZS 2293 standards, the minimum pictorial element height for viewing distances greater than 32 metres must be calculated based on the maximum viewing distance divided by 160. The Mile's design exceeds these requirements for standard 32m or 40m installs, making it compliant for spaces requiring extended visibility.

Standard exit lights like the Elumen Manly provide a 24-metre viewing distance, suitable for offices, retail stores, and smaller commercial spaces. Jumbo exit lights like the Mile extend visibility to 40 metres, making them essential for warehouses, sports facilities, manufacturing plants, shopping centres, and other large venues where occupants may be further from exit points.
Can I install the Mile in double-sided configuration?
By default the Mile is set-up for single-sided installation (such as above fire exit doors). An upgrade kit is available to make in double-sided.
How do I determine if I need a jumbo exit light?
AS/NZS 2293 standards specify minimum pictorial element heights based on maximum viewing distance. For viewing distances up to 24m, a 150mm tall pictograph is sufficient. For distances from 24m to 32m, a 200mm element is required. Beyond 32m, you need a 250mm pictograph or larger. Measure the furthest distance an occupant would need to see the exit sign in your space. If that distance exceeds 24 metres, and is up to 48 metres, the Mile is your best solution.
Can the Mile be suspended from the ceiling?
Yes. The Mile includes four screw mounting hooks specifically for ceiling suspension via chain or rod. This mounting method is popular in warehouses and large retail spaces where ceiling heights are significant and wall mounting isn't practical.
Is a remote-access 'networked' option available?
Yes. The networked MILE-40-LR variant features Elumen's Plexus mesh network for remote cloud monitoring and is available for large-scale deployments.
