Surface-Mount Emergency Spitfire Light
The Elumen Sunset is a low-profile surface-mounted LED emergency luminaire designed for fast installation on ceilings and walls. Once installed and charged, it operates reliably in emergency mode for at least two hours, comfortably exceeding the standard 90-minute requirement for emergency lighting.
- Choose between Standard or Self-Test models for any property.
- Durable polycarbonate enclosure in a compact IP20-rated box for indoor use.
- Non-maintained operation, meaning the light remains off in normal conditions and automatically turns on during a power failure.
- Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery with smart charger for long service life and efficient charging.
- Up to 5-Year Warranty that includes the battery on Self-Test and Networked variants.
Standard or Self-Test
The Elumen Sunset range is available in two main options to suit different compliance and maintenance requirements:
-
Standard (SUNSET-EM) - the most economical choice, suited to traditional manual “drop-test” regimes, with a 3-year warranty.
- Self-Test (SUNSET-ST) - adds automated local testing via the Elumen app and a 5-year warranty for reduced maintenance effort and better record-keeping.
Key advantages of the Self-Test and Networked models include:
- Automated testing. Scheduled function and duration tests are initiated automatically, reducing manual labour and human error.
- App-based data collection. Each fitting connects to the Elumen app, making it easy to review status, log results, and export reports during routine inspections.
- Scalable compliance. Networked models support remote scheduled testing and centralised oversight, ideal for campuses, strata portfolios, and multi-site portfolios.
Emergency Classification & Spacing
The Sunset luminaire delivers strong emergency illumination with a D40 emergency classification in its standard configuration. In Self-Test and Networked ranges, the emergency classification can be tuned in the software to match the site and optimise spacing.
-
Standard: D40.
- Self-Test: default D40, selectable to D25, D32, D50, or D63 via the Elumen app.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Sunset emergency luminaire AS/NZS compliant?
Yes, the Sunset range is designed to meet all relevant Australian and New Zealand emergency lighting standards, including AS/NZS 2293.3, AS/NZS 60598.2.2, and AS/NZS CISPR 15, and is subject to third-party testing.
What is a 'non-maintained emergency light'?
Non-maintained emergency lights remain off during normal operation and automatically illuminate only when the mains power supply fails, making them ideal for dedicated emergency illumination. Maintained fittings such as exit signs typically remain on in both normal and emergency conditions.
Do you sell a recessed version of this light?
Yes - see our emergency spitfire light and black spitfire for a standard recessed version of this light.
How can I order a Black version of this surface mounted emergency light?
Every Sunset variant is also available in a black theatre finish using the -BLK order codes (for example, SUNSET-BLK-EM, SUNSET-BLK-ST, SUNSET-BLK-LR). These are better suited to cinemas, theatres, and other dark environments where a white box would be visually intrusive. Please contact us to order a black or other variant that's not listed on our website.
