LED Panel Lights / LED Troffers
LED panel lights are an energy-efficient replacement for fluorescent office ceiling lights. LED panels use less energy and produce a better quality light than old fashioned fluorescent tubes. They are also slim-line and lightweight, making them much easier to handle.
LED panel lights are often referred to as LED troffers. Troffer lights fit into the recessed t-bar ceiling grids found in most office fit-outs.
Several sizes of LED panel lights are available, including:
- 600 x 300 = 600mm x 300mm (60cm x 30cm) - small rectangle shape
- 600 x 600 = 600mm x 600mm (60cm x 60cm) - square LED panel
- 1200 x 300 = 1200mm x 300mm (120cm x 30cm) - *most common size*
- 1200 x 600 = 1200mm x 600mm (1.2m x 0.6m) - larger rectangle shape
LED Panel Light Mounting Options
The most common installation of LED troffer lights is into the suspended ceiling grid in office buildings. The ceiling tiles in office and shops typically have a maximum size of 1200mm x 600mm ('4 foot by 2 foot'). LED panels are designed to replace an entire ceiling tile or a portion of it.
LED panel lights can also be used in a variety of other situations, including:
- Suspended from the ceiling (using a wire suspension kit),
- Surface-mounted onto a gyprock, plaster or concrete ceiling using a surface mount frame, or
- Recessed into a ceiling using a recessed frame.
