Place Sensors Where They're Actually Needed
Conventional motion sensors tend to have the light and the sensor in the same location. Detached sensors are also available, but they are mains powered, which limits your options (and requires an electrician to install).
On the other hand, this Philips Hue outdoor motion sensor is different. It's battery-powered so you can install it yourself and place it where it's most likely to detect movement.
For example, you might want a light at your front door to switch on when you come home, or when someone enters your property. Placing a conventional sensor light at your front door often results in the light coming on 'too late'. With Philips Hue, you can place a Hue light bulb in an existing light fitting, and then install the outdoor motion sensor at your front gate.
The Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor ships with adapter plates for installation in three different ways.
Improve Safety, Security & Efficiency With Philips Hue
The Philips Hue app unlocks the full potential of the outdoor motion sensor. Here are three ways you can use it to improve safety, security and energy efficiency:
- Control lights indoors and out. Despite being an outdoor sensor, you can still use it to switch lights on or off anywhere in your home. Make your home look occupied when away on holiday, or switch on essential lights as you arrive home.
- Use lights only when they're needed. Outdoor entry lights, security lights, and pathway lights are often left on for hours when you only need them for a few minutes. Use this sensor to make sure your outdoor lights are only on when needed.
- Adjust sensitivity for better performance. One problem with some motion sensors is their lack of adjustability. With Philips Hue, you can tune the device 'live' from within the app. This helps avoid false activation (motion sensitivity) and day-time operation (light sensitivity).
Set up and adjust the motion sensor in the Hue App.
