High Bay LED Lights
High Bay LED lights are used in buildings that have high ceilings (usually between 3.5m and 20m). Common use cases include:
- Work Areas - factories, workshops, and depots.
- Storage - warehouses, aircraft hangars, and sheds.
- Multi-use Spaces - schools halls, arenas, conference centres, and indoor sporting complexes.
- Retail - 'big box' retail shops and grocery stores.
Advantages of LED High Bays
Our LED high bays reduce energy consumption by over 60% compared to older technologies. They also lead to reduced maintenance costs thanks to their long lifetime. LED high bay lights produce better light, and they switch on to full brightness with no warm up time.
Types of LED High Bay Lights in Australia
There are three main types of LED High Bay Lights:
Conventional High Bay Shape. These lights have a cone shape reflector. The reflector was necessary in old-fashioned mercury vapour or metal halide high bay lights. The diffuser is less relevant for LEDs which already direct their light output downwards. In fact, the reflector dome may inhibit the ability of an LED high bay to dissipate heat if not designed correctly.
UFO or round LED High Bays. These lights are the most common style in LED. Their disk-like appearance resembles a stereotypical 'unidentified flying object' or UFO. The shape usually facilitates a heat sink design so the LEDs can run as cool as possible. Well designed LED highbay lights have a good heatsink that ensures longevity.
Linear LED Highbays. Linear LED high bay lights mimic the look of LED tube high bays which were popular for a short time. They are rectangular in shape. Linear LED high bays are sometimes used when mixed optics are required such as in narrow aisles with very high racking in warehouses.
What about Low Bay LED Lights?
'Lowbay' is a term used to describe lights used at lower ceiling heights than 'highbays'. In reality, if your ceiling height is on the lower side (say 3.5m to 5m) you can still use an LED highbay. Be sure to check the beam angle (light spread and spacing) before you buy online. In other words, there is no need to buy a low bay light just because your ceiling is less high.
