Frequently Asked Questions
What dimmers and transformers can I use with this light bulb?
If you have existing dimmers and 12V transformers, they should work fine. The light is designed to be broadly compatible. We also sell Diginet Dimmers and a Verbatim 12V Transformer that we have tested with this light bulb.
What's the difference between a GY6.35 and G6.35?
GY 6.35 and G 6.35 lamps have the same distance between pins (of 6.35mm). They only differ slightly in that the pins on a G6.35 are thicker than a GY6.35 (1.25mm vs 1mm). It's quite possible that this GY6.35 globe will fit into a 12V G6.35 socket. If unsure, please order one to test before buying a large number.
Is a GY6.35 the same as a G4?
No. The pins on a G4 globe are only 4mm apart. See our Philips G4 LED lamp here.
Is this GY6.35 LED larger than a halogen capsule with the same bi-pin base?
Yes. This LED GY6.35 is about 1cm longer than many halogen bulbs of the same type. In the vast majority of cases, this is not a problem, but it is worth considering in very tight spaces. If in doubt, buy a test unit to try in your light fittings.
12V GY6.35 or G6.35 bi-pin light bulbs have pins that are just over 6mm apart. The above graphic shows the exact dimensions of this Philips GY6.35 LED bulb.
