Desk Fans Are Great... But Often Low Quality

Desk fans are an ideal way to improve thermal comfort. When the weather is hot, a good fan can circulate air throughout the room and keep it moving. This creates a draft which cools occupants via the wind chill effect.

Unfortunately, most fans are poorly made and have cheap, noisy, and inefficient AC motors. Broken fans often feature on curbside hard rubbish piles - destined for the tip.

Vornado DC Desk Fan - a Better Way to Keep Cool

The Vornado Energy Smart compact desk fan provides a smarter solution.

  • Efficient DC motor technology - uses between 2 watts of power (300 RPM) and 40 watts on max (2,800 RPM).
  • Provides whole room air circulation - see graphic below.
  • Quality guaranteed - backed by a 5 year warranty.

Unlike regular desk fans, Vornado fans are designed to provide whole room circulation. They call the resulting airflow "Vortex Action."

Vornado Vortex Air Effect“An inlet guide cone directs air to the most efficient portion of the blades. In turn, the wide, heavily contoured blades churn the air into motion. The air then travels through a duct which sculpts the air into a column shape. As the air exits the Air Circulator, Vornado’s AirTensity™ Grill straightens the airflow to ensure the air travels long distances. The airflow column will spin and twirl to the opposite corner hitting the wall where it will split off and recirculate to the centre of the room.” - Vornado Air

It's a bit heavy on marketing jargon - but the point is: it works.

Save Energy & Sleep Well

Many people find desk fans can help them sleep. This includes both hot sleepers and those who benefit from some level of white noise. With the Vornado 533DC’s precise speed control, just the right level of airflow or white noise can be set.

For overnight use, the energy savings really add up too. The Vornado 533DC provides useful airflow with as little as 5 to 10 watts of power. This is far less than the 30 watts (or more) used by typical AC fans on their lowest setting.
