Swap Your 'T5' Fluro Tubes to LED

These Philips CorePro / Master T5 LED Tubes offer a cost-effective upgrade for modern fluorescent light fittings.

  • Available in the three most common T5 fluro tube sizes.
  • Reduces your energy consumption and lighting costs by at least 35%.
  • Designed to operate for 60,000 hours. That's three times longer than old T5s.

⚠️ Professional Installation Required

These T5 LED tubes require a one-time re-wiring of your existing T5 light fittings by a licensed electrician. They are not plug-and-play replacements. See our installation guide below for details.

What's the Difference Between T5 and T8?

T5 tubes are thinner and shorter than T8 tubes.

We sell LED upgrades for both types of fluorescent tubes, so it's essential to understand how they differ.

Key Dimensions T5 - This Product T8 - Other Items

T5 LED Fluro Tube vs T8

For exact dimensions, please refer to our specifications table and FAQs. Note that Philips assigns the same nominal dimensions of 600mm, 1200mm and 1500mm to both types (T5 and T8) of LED tubes.

Carton Quantity & Bulk Discounts

You are welcome to order any number of T5 LED tubes, but we recommend purchasing whole cartons where possible. See our reduced price for cartons of 10 units on this page. In addition to our ten-pack discount, we have a free delivery and bulk order offer - add to cart for details.

How to Upgrade Your T5 Fittings to LED

T5 LED tubes require a one-time re-wiring of your old T5 fluorescent light fittings to operate.

Your electrician will need to 'wire out' the existing high-frequency electronic ballast and fit an in-line starter (safety fuse). Here's a step-by-step guide to the process:

You'll receive everything you need with our Philips T5 LED tubes, including a warning sticker indicating that the fitting has been upgraded to LED and is no longer suitable for T5 fluorescent tubes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are T5 LED tubes compared to T8 tubes?

T5 tubes are about 5cm shorter than their T8 counterparts, so be sure to check the type and length of tube before you order.

Nominal Length Total Length (Including Pins)
T5 - This Product T8 - Other Items
600mm 563mm (56cm) 603mm (60cm)
1200mm 1163mm (116cm) 1212mm (121cm)
1500mm 1463mm (146cm) 1514mm (151cm)

How do T5 LED tubes compare to old T5 fluorescent tubes in power usage?

You'll save over 35% of your electricity usage, depending on the exact wattage of your old tubes. These are the numbers for both old and new types of 'High Efficiency' HE T5 tubes.

Nominal Length New T5 LED Old T5 Fluro Saving
600mm 7.7W 14W 45%
1200mm 18W 28W 36%
1500mm 22W 35W 37%

Some 'High Output' HO T5 fluro tubes have higher wattages, such as 24W, 49W, 54W and 80W. You can still replace HO T5 tubes with these LEDs, but you may experience less total light output.

Is it available in 6500K Cool Daylight?

No, these T5 tubes are only available in 4000K Cool White from Philips. 4000K is a more versatile (middle-of-the-spectrum) colour suitable for most applications.

What other options are available?

If you've discovered you have a 'T8' rather than 'T5' tube, see our other LED fluro tubes. If you'd prefer to replace the entire light fitting, consider an LED panel or LED batten with no tubes required (the light source and light fitting are combined).
