  • IC-4 insulation rated.
  • Flicker-free driver and dimmable.

Tri colour switch on gimbal downlight

Our gimbal downlights have a tri-colour switch on the back of each light fitting. It lets you choose between WarmNeutral, or Cool white.

Choose the Right Cutout Size: 70mm or 90mm

'Cutout size' is the diameter of the hole in your ceiling where the downlight sits. For existing installations, it's easiest to replace what you have with the same cutout size. For new installations, you can select the size that best suits your space.

  • 7W (70mm) - for cutouts 68 to 75mm (6.8 to 7.5cm) in diameter. The light fitting has a front face width of 85mm.
  • 8W (90mm) - for cutouts 85 to 95mm (8.5 to 9.5cm) across. The front face of the light is 105mm wide.

The 70mm Cutout on the left vs. the 90mm Cutout on the right. Both come pre-wired with a plug and lead for easy installation.

Choose a White or Black Gimbal Downlight

The choice between black and white finishes is primarily aesthetic, but can also impact visual comfort and the overall feel of a space. Use the option selector at the top of this page to make your choice.

  • White Gimbal Downlights: Best for white or light-coloured ceilings where you want them to blend in. Perfect for most homes that prefer an unobtrusive, minimalist fixture.
  • Black Gimbal Downlights: Ideal for modern, industrial, or dark-themed spaces. They can blend into dark ceilings or act as dramatic accents. They also help to reduce visual glare.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it need a separate transformer or light bulb?

No, everything is built in. Unlike old downlights - which had a separate globe, fitting, and transformer - our gimbal downlight combines all components into a single product. It plugs straight into a mains power outlet with the included lead and plug.

Can these gimbal downlights be covered with insulation?

Yes, they have an IC4 rating, which means you can abut and cover them with insulation.

What dimmers do you recommend for these gimbal downlights?

Our gimbal downlights work with most existing and new dimmer switches. Generally speaking, LED lights work best with trailing edge or universal dimmers such as these.

Do I have to use a dimmer?

No, our gimbal downlights work just fine on a regular light switch.

Can I use these to replace 'Ledvance Gimble Downlights'?

Yes, these downlights have a very similar design to the discontinued Ledvance Gimble Downlight that we sold previously. New features include a flicker-free driver for improved light quality and a tri-colour switch.

Are these downlights completely sealed from air and moisture?

No, there is a small air gap around the light to allow the angle-adjustment (gimbal) mechanism to operate. They are suitable for indoor installations. For wet environments, or where air-tightness is a top priority, we recommend one of our other dimmable LED downlights with a flush (flat) front face.
