The Philips SmartBright 2.0 Recessed LED Troffer is an ideal replacement for T5 and T8 ceiling panel light fittings. It has the following features:

  • Can be used in both recessed (t-bar) and plaster ceilings (plaster mounting clips included).
  • Slimline and lightweight design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it come with replaceable LED tubes?

No - the LED components are built into the light fitting. Traditional t-bar troffer lights have tubes, ballasts, starters, and connectors - all of which can fail. These LED troffers, on the other hand, are fully integrated into a single unit for simplicity and ease of installation.

They will last for a very long time - at least 10 years under normal office hours. If a light does eventually fail, the whole fitting needs to be replaced. This is easily done as they come pre-wired with a power plug, so an electrician is not necessarily required.

Is this a 'T8' or 'T5' light fitting?

The terms T8 and T5 refer to old-style fluorescent tubes. As this LED panel light does not contain tubes (see above), these terms do not apply. What is important is the size of the panel - which is designed to fit into all standard office ceiling lighting layouts.

Do you have a brighter or higher wattage option?

Wattage is no longer a direct indicator of brightness. In fact, we have found these 26W Philips LED panels to be a suitable replacement for both existing single and twin-tube light fittings.

Is it available in a cooler white (5000K or 6500K)?

Generally we recommend trying some of these Philips LED Panels out first given their exceptional value and overall high efficiency.

How many LED troffers should be used in an existing office fit-out?

For existing office fit-outs a one-for-one replacement is generally suitable. In other words, simply replace your existing fluorescent troffers with these LED troffers, and you're done!

How many LED troffers should be used in a new office fit-out?

We recommend that you consult a lighting designer if required, but generally speaking we can say:

  • A minimum of about 12 x LED Troffers per 100m2 - for lighter use areas or if placement of lights is deliberate (ie. placed above where they are actually needed, less used in storage areas and corridors, etc).
  • More typically a density closer to 16 x LED Troffers per 100m2 can be used - for likely 400+ lux at desk levels throughout, which exceeds Australian Standards guidance.
